Glasgow Business Awards Return in 2019
2 July 2019
Glasgow’s busy city centre
Here at Stelmain, we try to stay on top of any and all news related to Glasgow businesses. We think it’s part of our job to stay up to date so that we can understand and react to Glasgow’s business scene. And we also hope that this diligence makes our blog a useful resource for our clients and anyone considering starting a business in Glasgow. This month, we’re discussing the returning Glasgow Business Awards, which have been recently announced. We enjoy talking about Glasgow news, but our main aim is to rent out office space to businesses looking for high-quality, good-value properties, so make sure you also check out our range of Glasgow office space to rent.
22nd Year of the Glasgow Business Awards
It’s no secret that Glasgow is a great city to start a business. We’ve written blogs about why you should set up your business in Glasgow and, with our tongue slightly in our cheek, about why Glasgow is better than Edinburgh. Any big city with a thriving economy needs an appropriately thriving business awards event. The Glasgow Business Awards is in its 22nd year and has become a city institution. Each year, businesses from a multitude of industries put on their fanciest clothes and attend the awards ceremony to see if their efforts put them on top. In its 22nd year, the GBA is showing no signs of slowing down or disappearing, and that’s great news!
Save the Date – 3rd of October 2019
The awards usually take place in October, and this year is no exception. Put the 3rd of October in your diaries and Google Calendars. The event will be held at Double Tree, right in the centre of Glasgow.
Calling All Glasgow Businesses!

For an awards ceremony to function, you need plenty of entries and stiff competition to give it weight and significance. Luckily Glasgow is packed full of enterprising businesses — both established and new start-ups. The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has put out a call for entries for the 13 different award categories and you will have to put together a clear and concise submission.
Glasgow’s Favourite Business
All of the awards are worth winning, but the top spot is undoubtedly the ‘Glasgow’s Favourite Business’ award. This is because this particular award is the only one that is completely decided by a public vote. Obviously, it’s great to receive recognition and acclaim from fellow business owners, but for many public-facing businesses, the only vote that really matters is the public’s. Last year’s winner was Dear Green Coffee Roasters.
All of Last Year’s Winners
While looking ahead to the 2019 awards, it’s important to look back to last year’s winners:
